Remember the ‘Invisibility Cloak’ used in Harry Potter?
Forget Harry Potter and his “invisibility cloak” — theoretical physicists in the UK and US have proposed a clever way of making objects invisible. It would involve surrounding the object by a “metamaterial” – a type of composite material that has unusual electromagnetic properties.

“Is it science fiction? Well, it’s theory and that already is not science fiction. It’s theoretically possible to do all these Harry Potter things, but what’s standing in the way is our engineering capabilities,” said John Pendry, a physicist at the Imperial College London.
