Yahoo Offers $900 Million to Facebook

September 22nd, 2006 by e-tech

Yahoo Inc has offered $900 million to a 22-year-old Mark Zuckerberg in it’s latest attempts to get on the Social Networking bandwagon.

Mark Zuckerberg of course is the owner of the popular social network site - Facebook. In January this year Facebook received an offer of $750 million from Viacom but they duly rejected the offer and instead asked for a ernomous $2 billion which Viacom rebuffed.

To woo Mr. Zuckerberg, Yahoo has offered about $900 million for Facebook and says it will keep the company somewhat independent, with Mr. Zuckerberg in charge. This has been its model with other acquisitions like Flickr, a photo-sharing site, and Del.icio.us, a social bookmarking service that lets members share lists of their favorite Web sites.

In the meantime, YouTube has announced to potential buyers that it will not sell for less than $1.5 billion….
