AOL has relaunched Netscape.com, in what looks like a ‘Digg’ rival.

Jason Calcanis of Netscape.com aims to build on social networking concepts first brought to bear by both Digg and Del.icio.us.

The ‘unique’ thing about netscape.com compared to Digg is that there are images for the articles submitted, not just plain texts.

Netscape has assembled a team of 23 “anchors,” who will man the site round the clock. These anchors, which both come from traditional publications and from Calcanis’ Weblogs network, will be tasked with ensuring that stories are accurate and complete.

Weinstein said that other pure social networking sites have that problem. He pointed out that on several different occasions, stories on former Sun CEO Scott McNealy’s firing moved up the rankings on Digg. Through Netscape’s method, these stories would be caught early.

If your running a company, and need to send important e-mails to your clients, than welcome
to the world of PAID e-mail.

America Online and Yahoo, two of the world’s largest providers of e-mail accounts, are about to start using a system that gives preferential treatment to messages from companies that pay from a quarter of a cent to 1 cent each to have them delivered. The Internet companies say this will help them identify legitimate mail and cut down on junk e-mail, identity-theft scams and other scourges of users of their services.
