Gianfranco Lanci, Acer President, has probably severed his ties with Microsoft after releasing a statement that criticizes Windows Vista.

In an interview with Financial Times Deutschland, Lanci spoke his mind about Microsoft’s latest OS and certainly caused some anger at the Redmond HQ:

“The entire industry is disappointed by Windows Vista. And that’s not going to change in the second half of this year.”

Also, Lanci was quick to point out that stability was still a problem with Vista, hinting that it was no surprise customers keep asking manufacturers to deliver them computers featuring Windows XP instead on Microsoft’s latest OS.

Lock bumping is all over the Internet and on many local news stations, showing everyone how easy it is to bypass certain types of locks. These videos and reports are causing great concern for everyone from stay-at-home moms to business owners. Every day more and more people are becoming aware of this lock picking bypass method.

Customers and friends continue to ask me more and more frequently “is it really that easy to bypass a lock? If it is that easy, should I be concerned and what can I do about it?”

I explain to them that lock bumping has been around for years. This technique was primarily known to people in the security industry and the information was not commonly shared. Criminals or would-be thieves weren’t really aware of this method for breaking into houses or businesses. However, as this technique becomes common knowledge, each individual faces the importance of increasing their security and staying one step ahead of the potential problem.

I have two major concerns regarding lock bumping. First, this technique for bypassing lock systems is becoming common knowledge, which allows a greater probability for the wrong people to use this information. The second concern is that with this method, it is more difficult to discover signs of forced entry into a home. This becomes an insurance issue. Are you covered for burglary or theft if there are no signs of forced entry? This is a vital question, and one most people have not asked, especially before a break in.

One of the most effective ways to protect against lock bumping is to install a high security cylinder lock that is bump proof. BiLock has a high security cylinder with a patented key and locking mechanism. This lock system is one of the most secure locks in the world. Most standard locks have five or six pins which are made up of top and bottom pins, allowing the bump key to bypass it. The Bilock cylinder has 12 bottom pins with no top pins and dual sidebars along with a trigger mechanism within the key, making this lock system virtually pick proof.

Installing a deadbolt with a BiLock cylinder will provide you with great security. A valuable feature is that there is no unauthorized key duplication. All the keys you receive with the locks are numbered. When you hand out a key to someone, you simply make a record of the key number and when it is returned to you, feel confident that no one has made a copy of the key for your house or business. This is extremely important when handing out keys to contractors or house sitters; you do not have to worry about changing the locks as long as you know that you have all of the keys back in your possession.

You might question whether it would be enough to have a BiLock cylinder in the door knob lock. It would give you more key control and security against lock bumping, but the door knob lock does not provide as much security as a deadbolt lock. For the best security, I recommend a deadbolt with a BiLock bump proof lock cylinder. It would also be a good idea to replace your locking door knob with a passage door knob. A passage door knob has no locking function, it simply latches the door like a bedroom or closet door. When you have installed your passage knob, you will be using the deadbolt to lock your door. You will need to have your key to lock the door, so you won’t be able to accidentally lock yourself out of your home.

A very important thing to remember when securing your house is that criminals commonly pick the easiest target. If you make your home tougher to access than your neighbors, chances are they’ll skip your house. After installing your new BiLock cylinders, you and your loved ones will sleep better knowing that somebody can’t break into your house as easily as they show on the Internet and TV.

Dave Jabas has 30 years experience in sales and installation of commercial and residential door hardware, lock boxes, panic bars and BiLock high security lock cylinders.

Kevin Rose, the founder of Digg.com recently talked about the popular site at the Web 2.0 Summit.

He pointed out some cool facts like the 100,000th story to reach the front page of Digg occurred with the story about Rumsfeld stepping down. It hit the AP Wire, and three minutes later was submitted to Digg. Four minutes later, it had hit the front page. This was in stark contrast to Google News who only posted the news 25 minutes later.

Another interesting fact was that 37% of diggs came from the Digg Swarm and Digg Stack tools. They are now working to give these tools to web publishers to see the data for their site in this format, so you can see through Swarm or Stack how stories on your site are being Dugg.

So your PC is being shared with your brother, sister or your friend, and for the sake of privacy you don’t want them to view your folders and it’s content, sure you could just make another user for them to login as, but there’s also another way to make your folders for your eyes only.

Here it is:

Note

This option is only available for folders included in your user profile. Folders in your user profile include My Documents and its subfolders, Desktop, Start Menu, Cookies, and Favorites. If you do not make these folders private, they are available to everyone who uses your computer.

When you make a folder private, all of its subfolders are private as well.

You cannot make your folders private if your drive is not formatted as NTFS

Open My Computer

Double-click the drive where Windows is installed (usually drive (C:), unless you have more than one drive on your computer).

If the contents of the drive are hidden, under System Tasks, click Show the contents of this drive.

Double-click the Documents and Settings folder.

Double-click your user folder.

Right-click any folder in your user profile, and then click Properties.

On the Sharing tab, select the Make this folder private so that only I have access to it check box.

Or if you have $39.95 to spare and want to password protect your folder than click here

Digital Camera Review has reviewed Canon’s new 5.0 Megapixel CCD sensor, the Canon Powershot A530 Digital Camera.

According to ‘AKAJohnDoe’ of Digital Camera Review The Canon Powershot A530 can barely be called a compact camera with it’s measurement and weight at at 3.56 x 2.52 x 1.70 in (90.4 x 64.0 x 43.2 mm) and 6.00 oz (170 g).

AKAJohnDoe continues to say that the A530 is very similar to its slightly more expensive sibling, the Canon Powershot A540. In fact, it shares the same User Guide with the A540. The A540 bumps up the specs a bit with a 6 megapixel sensor, 2.5 inch LCD, aperture and shutter priority modes.

Three years ago this month, Technorati was officially incorporated and became a “real” company, moving out of the “science project” phase of its life. Since then, so much has happened – not only has Technorati grown and changed, so has the live web. When I first started Technorati, my primary concern was how to be of service to a growing universe of bloggers, which then numbered in the thousands. Today, we’re tracking about 50 million blogs and we’re increasingly including other forms of citizen media, including photos and video.

A truly intresting article i discovered today from reading Steve Pavlina’s blog.

Most of the content i already know, believe and practice, but still it feels so good reading it.

The title of his post was “10 Reasons You Should Never Get a Job”:

Getting a job and trading your time for money may seem like a good idea. There’s only one problem with it. It’s stupid! It’s the stupidest way you can possibly generate income! This is truly income for dummies.

Why is getting a job so dumb? Because you only get paid when you’re working. Don’t you see a problem with that, or have you been so thoroughly brainwashed into thinking it’s reasonable and intelligent to only earn income when you’re working? Have you never considered that it might be better to be paid even when you’re not working? Who taught you that you could only earn income while working? Some other brainwashed employee perhaps?

I don’t know if you’ve been through this, but i have…and what am i talking about?
Well it’s about domain names, i own a lot of domains some created into full blown sites/blogs while some just sit around doing nothing.

The intresting thing about this is i usually get good ideas for domain names and as usual would proceed to check with various methods if the domain was available for purchase.I don’t normally buy on the spot..i’m just not that kind of person, but somehow this past 1 year i have found out that almost every domain i serach for without actually buying it, would on the very next day be bought by somebody else..that really pissed me off, cause now i had to pay extra for something that costs just $7.20* the previous day.

Call me paranoid but i sincerely thought somebody was spying on my domain searching activities…and i was right!!

TechDirt reports that “Company Swiping The Domain Names You’re Thinking About Registering”, yes there are people spying on your domain search activities.

An excerpt:

For years, there have been rumors that if you do whois domain lookups on certain less-than-honest lookup sites, the owners of those lookup sites will quickly register those domains, hoping to resell them to you later at a higher price. That’s why many people are careful only to check for domain registrations on more trusted sites. However, it appears that some scammers may have figured out a way to get the search queries off trusted whois lookup sites.

So my dear friends if your into buying domains please take note of this, in fact i suggest you read the full article HERE.

Cheers.

All About Dedicated Hosting Providers by Sage Kalmus

Unless overtly listed otherwise, most web hosting packages you’ll come across in your search are what are called shared hosting providers. What this means is that the server or servers that host your website are simultaneously hosting numerous other websites also. This gives you a discounted rate on web hosting services in exchange for tolerating certain technical constraints, like bandwidth, disk space, upload and download speeds, security and privacy, traffic, and probably the most notable restriction — total control.

If you want total control not only over the administration of your website but also over the very hardware and software used to run it, then you should be evaluating not shared hosting providers, but dedicated hosting providers. If your business is large enough or growing fast enough that it requires its own internet connection and server, you may need a dedicated web host.

What’s the downside to going with dedicated hosting providers? In a word: responsibility. In most areas of life, with total control comes total responsibility, and it’s no different with hosting providers. With a dedicated server, the onus is on you to buy, install, and maintain the actual equipment — the server itself — mounted in the dedicated hosting providers’ data center.

Fortunately, you still get the benefit of their presumably top-notch, around-the-clock security over the physical premises, but you remain fully responsible for the security of your cyber-premises. Likewise, dedicated hosting providers will ensure that the systems in the building are all provided with redundant uninterruptible and backup power and environmental controls, but it’s you who must keep your machines and cables maintained and functioning in this idyll environment.

How do you identify whether it’s time to switch from a shared host to a dedicated host? There are 3 main indicators to stay alert for:

Speed

If the traffic streaming through your shared server is slowing down your customers’ pace as they browse your site (or your employees, if an in-house site), it may simply be time to look for more unencumbered shared hosting. But if you’ve tried several shared hosting providers with the same results, then it may be time to remind yourself how impatient the average web surfer is. While you’re jumping from shared host to shared host trying to save a buck, your customers are jumping ship. Your ability to respond promptly and effectively to customer transactions and inquiries cannot be overemphasized either.

Reliability

The limits to your control are nowhere more apparent than in the areas of reliability and security. It’s not simply that problems can arise: problems do arise. It’s the nature of the biz. And if you don’t have unlimited access to your own operating system, software and database apps, etc., there’s not much you can do when one arises.

Customizability

If your company is growing fast, you’re going to be changing many aspects of your web presence along with it. You may regularly need to tweak your disk space and bandwidth and experiment with using different applications to better serve your changing needs. On a shared host, upgrading in such a way usually involves leaping from one “package” or “plan” to another. These packages are generally preset and may or may not serve your immediate needs. They may be riddled with programs you don’t yet need, for example, yet lack in the one singular program you do. Or the next leap up from your current plan has way more disk space and bandwidth than you need at the moment. With a dedicated server, you can make changes incrementally, step forward, step back, heck, step sideways if you need to — and when you need to.

In large part, it’s the size and growth rate of your business that will dictate whether you need a shared or dedicated host. Affordability and personal time commitment are nice secondary considerations, but if your business is booming, you would do it a great injustice to try and save on a few bucks and few extra hours per week of your time in exchange for slower and poorer quality of service for your customers.

By the same token, however, if your business is small enough to function quite smoothly on any of the shared hosting providers out there, don’t squander your precious capital on a dedicated server just so you can have total control. Because sometimes total control isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

For several months now I have seen many products that promise to
get you listed in the top of the search engines. Many of these
products are useless, and people just end up wasting their money.
In the near future to make money with Google Adsense you are
going to have to learn to drive traffic to your site without the
help of search engines. The 5 techniques below will show you
exactly how to get traffic to your website and profit from those
visitors clicking on your Google Adsense ads.

1. Find a topic you can create a two part article on. Write part
one of your article and place it on a page on your website. Place
Google Adsense ads next to your article. (Example:
http://marketingforrealpeople.com/joint-venture-ideas.htm) Next
you will want to create part two of your article and make sure to
make reference to your first article in your second article. Take
part two of your article and submit it to ezine publishers, and
article directories.

Using this technique, part two of your article will drive traffic
to part one of your article. In this way you will profit when
someone clicks on your Google Adsense ads when visiting the web
page that you have part one of your article on.

2. Create a site that is related to your market that has nothing
on it but good quality content about a popular topic in your
market. Make sure that you place Google Adsense ads on the site
also. You’ll then offer ezine publishers and ad on one of the
pages of your site if they’ll mention your site to their
subscribers. Make sure they know they’ll benefit by other ezines
publishers sending traffic to your site. Their subscribers will
be exposed to those ads also. You’ll profit from the earnings you
earn by people clicking on your Google Adsense ads.

This technique is profitable for everyone involved. I haven’t
seen anyone using it so be a pioneer and watch this technique
explode your Google Adsense income!

3. Find a profitable topic and create a 5-10 website about the
topic. Make sure to place Google Adsense ads on your website
along with the content. Next you will want to create a mini-ebook
or report about the topic, and include affiliate links for
products and services related to your topic. Take your mini-ebook
or report and give it to website owners and ezine publishers who
can reach your target market. Allow them to brand the affiliate
links in your mini-ebook or report with their own affiliate
links. Within your mini-ebook or report, you’ll want to make many
references to the website you created for this topic that have
your Google Adsense ads on it. Whoever passes this mini-ebook or
report around will be driving traffic to your site, and you’ll
profit from those that click on your Google Adsense ads.

This technique uses viral marketing which in my opinion is one of
the most powerful marketing techniques around. You can get some
added exposure by submitting your ebook to ebook directories. You
can find a list of ebook directories by going to:

http://www.marketingforrealpeople.com/ebook-directory-list.htm

4. Take a couple of articles that you have written, and upload
them to your website. Make sure to place your Google Adsense code
next to your article. Now take the URL of your articles and place
the URL in your signature line in your email or forum signature
line.

With this one easy technique, I’ve made up to $46 a day for
spending a few minutes putting the URLs into my signature line.

5. Create a mini ecourse on a topic that you know about or do
research on a popular topic and create a mini course for it. Take
each day of your course and place it on it’s own website. Day one
will have it’s own page. Day two will have it’s own page, and so
on. Make sure you place Google Adsense ads on each of these pages
also.

When people sign up for your ecourse instead of emailing them the
content, send them to the website address where the content is.
The key to this is putting your Google Adsense ads before the
content.

By using this technique you are not only building a subscriber
list, but you’ll also profit from people who click on your Google
Adsense ads when visiting to read your ecourse.

In the future I will be writing more articles on how to profit
with Google Adsense without having to use any SEO techniques. By
using the techniques above, you are working smarter and not
harder, and that’s really the key to making money with Google
Adsense.

Liz Tomey has been making a nice income from Google Adsense for
the last year and half. Learn how she uses no search engine
optimization, keyword research or expensive software to make easy
money with Google Adsense at TomeyMarketing.com

Yes,I know..i know…your going to point out that there’s already another way to sync Firefox bookmarks and that is with Google Sync

But it’s always good to have alternatives no?

Foxmarks is an extension for Firefox and the main difference between Foxmarks and Google Sync is that Foxmarks Syncs your bookmarks ‘only’ while Google Sync continuously synchronizes your browser settings – including bookmarks, history, persistent cookies, and saved passwords – across your computers.

So if your looking to sync just your bookmarks than Foxmarks is the extension for you.

What in the world does Foxmarks do?
This is of course the most prominent question.Foxmarks is an extension for Firefox that allows you to synchronize your bookmarks across multiple computers, which is a boon to most people that actually have more than one machine…PC + Notebook.

All you have to do is install Foxmarks on each machine that you want to keep synchronized, and Foxmarks will automatically propagate the changes that you make on one machine to all the others.

**Let me also say that Foxmarks requires a one-time account creation, after that it’s easy peasy.

Ok, i’m getting the picture now..but how does it actually work?

Foxmarks relies on a server (you can set up your own server if you wish, or use the Foxcloud server that Foxmarks provides for free) to store your bookmarks. Each time you make a change to your bookmarks, Foxmarks uploads those changes to the server, where your other computers running Foxmarks can download them.

Ok, enough chatter give me the Download Link

Why most certainly!

here it is.

enjoy

Do you calculate your biorhythm? what is “biorhythm” in the first place?

A biorhythm (or biological rhythm) is a hypothetical cyclic pattern of alterations in physiology, emotions, and/or intellect. “Bio” pertains to life and “rhythm” pertains to the flow with regular movement.

Our physical biorhythm cycle completes one life cycle in 23 days. Our emotional biorhythm cycle lasts 28 days, and our intellectual biorhythm cycle lasts 33 days. At mid point and end point in each cycle, they sharply move back to zero point and change polarity. The day a cycle changes polarity is called a transition day (also called a critical day, or caution day).

The Calculation:

It is possible to calculate one’s biorhythm using one’s birthdate. These calculations will result in a graph showing three curves, each representing one of the three cycles. It is advised to do these calculations in a spreadsheet such as the well-known Excel, as they are quite complicated an numerous, especially if you want to calculate your personal cycles for an entire month or even an entire year.

I’ve personally tried PayDotCom for myself and have been promoting mostly ‘design’ stuff..like the ‘Photoshop -eBook’ & the ‘Illustrator Tutorial”.
