Adobe has warned users of it’s Flash Player of a possible denial of service attack and has urged users to apply an update for it.

The exploit affects what’s called Flash remoting – essentially the provision of server-based application services via Flash, as opposed to via HTML, Active Server Pages or some other wrapper. Though an exploit itself has not yet been discovered, Adobe engineers found that a certain form of Flash remoting command sent to ColdFusion servers (another acquired Macromedia technology) triggers an infinite loop process that will not stop itself.

Despite being rated “non-critical” by security firm Secunia,The Mozilla Corporation will still go ahead and release minor update to Firefox, numbered 1.5.0.3, in order to address a denial-of-service (DoS) vulnerability in the most recent version of it’s browser.

The DoS problem affects the latest Firefox 1.5.0.2 build, which was released earlier this month to correct a slew of security-related flaws.

Exploit code for the vulnerability has been released, prompting Firefox developers to quickly patch the browser — even though the risk of attack is minimal. The decision will, however, slightly push back the next Firefox update.
