CBHD has improved on this, and undercut the Blu-Ray prices.Currently Warner are the only studio officially backing CBHD, although with the Chinese Government and it’s 2 billion population supporting the new format, things could soon change. Chances are that this new format might soon take over the Blu-Ray format completely. Currently the CBHD format, outsells Blu-Ray three to one in China, and with the new government backing this is only set to increase. While Blu-Ray may be under threat from the new CBHD format, it has gained a strong foothold in the western world. This could protect it from being taken over by the CBHD format. This is still under dispute however, as most of the blu-ray sales are PS3 based.Only time will tell if the new cheaper CBHD format dominates the Blu-ray market, or if HD internet streaming will beat them all!

Digg.com is currently facing a user revolt of sorts after the popular web 2.0 site deleted a story containing number that could allow someone to crack the copy protection on an HD-DVD., they also banned the user that submitted that story.

Kevin Rose, the founder of Digg responded on the DiggBlog that they would now stand for the community:

But now, after seeing hundreds of stories and reading thousands of comments, you’ve made it clear. You’d rather see Digg go down fighting than bow down to a bigger company. We hear you, and effective immediately we won’t delete stories or comments containing the code and will deal with whatever the consequences might be.

If we lose, then what the hell, at least we died trying.

Digg on,

Kevin

But that hasn’t been the case at all..

Well, Christopher Null over at Yahoo! Tech has written
a rather simple, understandable article about Blu-ray and HD-DVD and what it’s all about.

What is High-Definition DVD? High-definition DVD is a generic turn for the next generation of DVD technology, which can burn more information onto the same size disc as your current CDs and DVDs. Like a DVD, it can be used for either video or computer data. But you’ll need new hardware to play a hi-def disc on either your TV or your PC.
